The theatrical re-release of Hocus Pocus continues to conjure up notable numbers at the box office.Gitesh Pandya on Twitter reported that Hocus Pocus made another $530,000 over its fourth weekend since it was first re-released in theaters. Other notable holdover figures from this weekend's box office include The Nightmare Before Christmas grossing $577,000 in the second weekend of its own theatrical re-release. A re-release of Monsters Inc., meanwhile, opened to $494,000.

As new theatrical releases remain scarce, movie studios have resorted to playing classic titles, including Jurassic Park, Back to the Future and The Empire Strikes Back. In celebration of Halloween, theaters started showing horror-themed features ranging from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to more family-friendly fare like Hocus Pocus or the 2019 Addams Family film.

Hocus Pocus opened to cold commercial and critical reception in 1993 and only saw success later as it gradually grew into a Halloween classic through seasonal airings by TV networks owned by Disney.

Directed by Kenny Ortega and starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy, Hocus Pocus is now playing in select theaters.
