This summer will see the release of Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw, which centered on Dwayne Johnson's federal agent Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham's mercenary Deckard Shaw. These two unlikely allies will be forced to band together to save the world from a powerful threat in this Fast & Furious spinoff.
As the first official trailer revealed, that threat is Brixton Lore, a cybernetically enhanced former MI-6 agent, who plainly states that he's a bad guy. In a new Twitter post, producer Hiram Garcia posted an image of Idris Elba in character as Brixton, clearly having fun while wielding a flamethrower, accompanied with the caption, "get ready."
The trailer revealed that he thinks he's doing the world good by being a bad guy. "I'm the necessary shock to the system" he said. We were treated to several shows of strength, endurance and other powers in the trailer. Thanks to cybernetic and genetic enhancements, Brixton is superhuman and bulletproof, impossible for regular agents to neutralize.
Needless to say, Hobbs and Shaw will have their work cut out for them.
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw takes place two years after Fate of the Furious, in which the two titular characters were finally able to put their differences aside -- for the most part -- after taking down the cyber-terrorist known as Cipher.
Directed by David Leitch from a script by Chris Morgan, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw stars Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Idris Elba and Vanessa Kirby. In theaters Aug 2.
