A Fast & Furious fan favorite will get his just due in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Fast & Furious screenwriter Chris Morgan confirms the spinoff film will reference Han's death at the hands of Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham).

Morgan revealed his love and adulation for the "Justice for Han" online movement and Sung Kang, who plays Han in the Fast & Furious franchise.

“I love ‘justice for Han,’” Morgan told Entertainment Weekly. “Sung Kang is a great friend, and Han is a character that I adore. I would say that the super-arc for Deckard Shaw is going to be one of the most interesting, cool, rewarding character arcs in the franchise. Justice for Han is owed. It’s something we have discussed for a very long time and want to give the right due to. I think the audience will be satisfied and should know it’s coming. There’s a line in Hobbs & Shaw that is right before the battle in Samoa where Shaw says to his sister, ‘There’s things I’ve done that I have to make amends for.’ That line was specifically written and put in there just to let everyone know that he is talking about Han — it is on his mind. It tortures him, and he’s going to get to it.”

Morgan has written every film in the billion-dollar franchise since 2006's Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift, which introduced Sung Kang's Han. The events in Fast & Furious, Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6 take place before Tokyo Drift, allowing Han to be a prominent character in those films. Unfortunately, Han was killed by a revenge-seeking Shaw in Fast & Furious 6, with its post-credits scene revealing Han's true fate. With Shaw being seen more as a hero, acknowledging Han's death should help usher the character into this new role within the Fast & Furious franchise.
