If you're a fan of the Fast & Furious franchise, you may have been confused as to why Luke Evans' Owen Shaw wasn't featured during the series latest outing, Hobbs & Shaw. As it turns out, despite featuring other members of the Shaw family, Owen was never intended to be a part of that particular story. His character is only briefly mentioned during the blockbuster.

"I don't know. I didn't have a backstory in mind for Owen's character or where he was," director David Leitch confessed to Screen Rant. "But I'm sure he's doing something in Shaw's universe with Queenie, and he could arise at any time in this world. For sure."

Despite this, Chris Morgan -- who has been working on the Fast & Furious franchise since Tokyo Drift -- teased that fans can perhaps expect more of Owen in the future: "I think we are, again, a world that is expanding. We have a lot of stories that we're going to be telling and a lot of interconnected character things. I would just say that I'm a huge fan of that character. Just wait."

Directed by David Leitch from a script by longtime Fast & Furious veteran Chris Morgan, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw stars Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Idris Elba and Vanessa Kirby. The film is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray.
