Marvel.com has released new details about Jonathan Hickman's upcoming September issues of "Avengers" and "New Avengers." Both double sized issues will jump forward in time eight months to help set up the climax of Hickman's run and get to the point where -- as Marvel Executive Editor Tom Brevoort puts it -- "time runs out for everybody."

Further questions the issues might answer involve what has happened to the Avengers, a new version of the Cabal and what might be coming in May 2015 -- considering Marvel's "AXIS" event is scheduled to hit June 2015, it's likely that the issues do something to help tee up the event.

"In addition to setting the table for the astonishing climax of Jonathan Hickman's run, we'll also be providing a glimpse into the immediate future of our characters and what changes await them over the course of the next eight months of publishing," Brevoort told Marvel.com. "This isn't some maybe-future; this is the real deal, what's awaiting the Marvel Universe in the coming year."

Marvel also released covers for "Avengers" #35 by interior artist Jim Cheung, which features an intriguing lineup of Avengers; and "New Avengers" #24 by interior artist Mike Deodato, which depicts Thanos and some of his "Infinity" Black Order generals.
