These photos are another addition to a series of recent photos and videos from this nighttime scene between Keaton's Batman and Simmons' James Gordon. A recent video showed Batgirl's crew filming the scene with Batman and Commissioner Gordon, which takes place under Glasgow's Kingston Bridge. Simmons portrays a younger Gordon who is seemingly reunited with his daughter -- a younger Barbara Gordon, who will later become the titular Batgirl. Keaton's Batman is only briefly seen in the video, but it is enough to tease a moment between the two characters in HBO Max's upcoming DC Extended Universe film.

The video came after recent Batgirl set photos showing a similar nighttime scene featuring Keaton, who portrayed the Dark Knight in 1989's Batman and Batman Returns in 1992, in his new Batsuit. Other set photos also revealed that Simmons had started filming his scenes as Commissioner Gordon in February. In an interview last year, Simmons revealed that Gordon will have a "significant" role in Batgirl, saying that he was "flabbergasted" when Warner Bros. asked him to return to the character after his appearance in Justice League.

Keaton's appearance in the DCEU film was teased in December 2021, before being officially confirmed when Batgirl star Leslie Grace, who will portray Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, welcomed the veteran Batman actor to the film. Other behind-the-scenes photos from the Batgirl set revealed the character's new costume in murals displayed on Glasgow's Gotham City set.

Batgirl was first announced in March 2017 and it was confirmed in 2021 that co-directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah would take over the project with a script from Christina Hodson, who wrote for The Flash and Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).

"With Batgirl, we hope to take the audience on a fun ride and see a different side of Gotham," producer Kristin Burr said in May 2021. "Christina's script is crackling with spirit. [Arbi and Fallah] have an excited and joyous energy which is infectious, making them the perfect filmmakers for this Batproject. And I’m just psyched I get to be part of the DC universe, which is super cool."

Batgirl will premiere exclusively on HBO Max in 2022.
