Hey Anna Kendrick -- This "Stranger Things" Star Also Wants To Be Squirrel Girl

It looks like Anna Kendrick may have some competition for the role of Squirrel Girl. "Stranger Things" actress Shannon Purser announced on Twitter last Sunday that she would also be interested in playing Marvel's quirky superhero.

So who do I talk to about being Squirrel Girl?

Purser plays Barb in "Stranger Things," the Netflix original '80s-inspired horror/sci-fi/drama. The show marks Purser's first credit in a major role, and her bespectacled Barb has become a bit of an internet sensation.

Anna Kendrick, of "Pitch Perfect" fame, reignited talk about bringing Squirrel Girl to the big screen at the beginning of July when she talked to Net-A-Porter about the superhero, saying, "I don't know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half squirrel, but I could be half squirrel!"

Squirrel Girl, aka Doreen Green, has superhero strength and agility, in addition to her ability to speak squirrel language. She currently stars in the series "Unbeatable Squirrel Girl," written by Ryan North with art by Erica Henderson. The character has not yet been adapted for the screen.
