At the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt confirmed "Heroes Reborn" was always intended to run for only one season (via The Hollywood Reporter).

"That was always the plan, unless [series creator] Tim [Kring] woke up one day and said, 'Oh, I have another chapter to tell.' But I think we're coming to the end of the world, maybe. Stay tuned," Greenblatt explained.

"As far as I know, there's no more incarnations of 'Heroes' coming," he added.

According to THR, Kring previously told them he had ideas with which he could continue the series, but Greenblatt revealed Kring had never told him that when pressed on the issue.

"Heroes Reborn" stars franchise veterans Jack Coleman, Masi Oka, Greg Grunberg, Jimmy Jean-Louis and Cristine Rose, joined by a cast of newcomers that includes Zachary Levi, Kiki Sukezane, Robbie Kay, Danika Yarosh, Judith Shekoni, Ryan Guzman, Henry Zebrowski, Gatlin Green, Dylan Bruce, Francesca Eastwood and Nazneen Contractor.

The series finale will air on Thursday, January 21 at 8 pm EST on NBC.
