Marvel's Heroes Reborn will feature variant covers designed to look like 1990s-era trading cards.

The covers were designed by artist Mark Bagley, who drew the members of the Squadron Supreme and Blade. The Daywalker is wielding his signature swords and a long trenchcoat over a hoodie, surprisingly being labeled as a "super villain." Bagley drew nine covers in total, which connect together to form a single image.

"Man, THIS was fun! I got to draw a BUNCH of characters for the first time, which doesn't happen very often after all these years of drawing comics," Bagley said. "I was just a kid comics fan when the Squadron was created, and I remember loving John and Sal Buscema's art at the time. Even then, I aspired to do what they were doing, so it was a thrill doing this, and I'm proud to have been offered the opportunity."

Heroes Reborn takes place in a reality where the Avengers were never formed, with the Squadron Supreme serving as Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Blade is the only person who remembers the world as it was and decides to seek out his fellow Avengers -- which includes a Tony Stark who never became Iron Man and a Thor who rejected his godhood. A series of one-shots focusing on characters including Peter Parker and the Thunderbolts will also be released.

Heroes Reborn #1, by Jason Aaron and Ed McGuiness, goes on sale in May from Marvel Comics.
