"Heroes," Masi Oka Nominated for Primetime Emmys

Superhero drama "Heroes" has been nominated for Outstanding Drama Series at the 59th annual Primetime Emmys, Variety reports. The freshman series created by Tim Kring is competing against a eclectic mix of shows for the coveted award, including "Boston Legal," "Grey's Anatomy," "House, MD," and the ubiquitous "The Sopranos."

Additionally, "Heroes" star Masi Oka has been nominated for an award for Supporting Actor in a Drama, and David Semel, director of the "Genesis" episode, is in the running for a Directing for a Drama award.

We set out to make a show that people would get hooked on, Tim Kring told CBR News. For the show to now have this kind of critical exposure is really the icing on the cake.

Masi has been both the comic relief and the action hero in two languages and three separate time spans (frames?), the present, the past and the future. How often do you get to do that on a TV series? And the truth is, this is all due to his enormous talents.

Masi Oka was pleased by the announcement, and told CBR News, “It’s certainly a much better way to start my morning than yesterday when I spilled hot tea all over myself. I couldn’t be happier and more thrilled.”
