After five issues, DC's Heroes in Crisis is still knee-deep in a murder mystery. Following the brutal deaths of a handful of superheroes that were seeking rehabilitation in the Sanctuary support center, the Justice League is still looking for the unidentified culprit.
One of the key victims of the massacre was Wally West, aka the Flash -- a loss that has weighed heavily on Barry Allen and the rest of Justice League. Now, with the arrival of the next chapter in the comic series, it looks like Heroes in Crisis will revisit an important, defining moment from DC Universe: Rebirth Special #1.
On his personal Twitter account, guest artist Mitch Gerads (who is temporarily taking over from the series' main artist Clay Mann) revealed a new look at Heroes in Crisis #6, which features the famous scene from DC Rebirth #1 -- by Geoff Johns and artist Gary Frank -- that finally reunited Barry Allen and Wally West. At the time, thanks to a meddling in the timeline at the onset of 2011's the New 52, Barry Allen had no memory of his sidekick and nephew, Wally West.
It would only be five years later that Wally would find a way out of the Speed Force, reaching out for a lightning rod to tether him back into existence. In a beautiful, emotional scene, Barry would instantly remember Wally, and he would help him return to the DC Universe.
Now, with Wally dead, it appears like Heroes in Crisis will circle back to the moment when Wally West first returned.
