On June 3, San Diego Comic Art Gallery will debut 100 original drawings by comic artists like Dale Keown, Whilce Portacio, Bill Sienkiewicz and Walter Simonson as part of the Hero Initiative's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 100 Project."

IDW Publishing provided special, limited-edition blank covered copies of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" #50 for the project, which the Hero Initiative used to commission 100 comic artists. Additionally, "TMNT" co-creator Kevin Eastman donated 15 original covers; he will also live-sketch two covers during the event. Eastman's pieces will be available for purchase at the event.

"I cannot think of a better way to honor and celebrate the art of the medium we all work in," Eastman said in a statement. "A special event, in a gallery setting created for our art, while raising money to help the artists in need who originally inspired us!"

All of the artwork from "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 100 Project" will be collected and bound into a book, which will be sold in soft- and hardcover by IDW Publishing. The original pieces will be sold on eBay.com starting on June 14, 2016.

Event attendance is free, though donations to the Hero Initiation are appreciated. The one-night-only event takes place at San Diego Comic Art Gallery on June 3 from 6 - 9 p.m.
