Following a reported and unconfirmed exit from Warner Bros.' so-called DC Extended Universe of movies, it wasn't long before it was officially announced that Superman actor Henry Cavill had been cast as the lead character in Netflix's television series adaptation of The Witcher.

The announcement was made less than two months ago and yet, we already have our first look at the Mission Impossible - Fallout star as the fan-favorite monster hunter Geralt of Rivia. On his personal Instagram account, Cavill shared a brief video of himself in an official costume and makeup test for the character.

Sporting the character's trademark white hair, Cavill walks towards the camera, and gulps down some wine. Then, the signature Netflix drums sound, and the streaming giant's title card confirms that The Witcher will be coming in 2019.

This video indicates that production of the highly-anticipated television series is on the verge of starting. Given that an official release date has now been given for 2019, Cavill's famous monster hunter should be roaming the lands of the Continent sooner rather than later.
