Henry Cavill has finally broken his silence about #SuperMustacheGate, following hair-razing revelation that Warner Bros. will have to digitally remove his facial hair from Justice League reshoot footage.

"It is time to finally set the record straight in this moustache fiasco," the Superman actor wrote in a caption accompanying a set photo of an enormous illuminated ring ... or something. "Pictured above, is not a set on MI6 but is in fact the latest in a series of weapons being designed by Warner Bros and Paramount Studios to combat the entity know as 'Henry Cavill's Moustache.' There has been no discussion over whether to shave or not to shave for the JL reshoots, simply a relentless campaign to put an end to the seemingly inexorable conquest of this despotic 'stache. It is not a question of IF I should shave -- it is a question of how can we possibly be victorious against such a beast without bringing our own doom raining down upon us."

The good-natured comments, which bear such hashtags as #HenryCavillsMoustache and #MoustacheImpossible, follow a report on Monday about the complexities of the Joss Whedon-helmed reshoots for Justice League, which are estimated to cost in the neighborhood of $25 million. In addition to juggling the schedules of the actors, across two months on two continents, there's the matter of Cavill's facial hair, grown for his role in Paramount's Mission: Impossible 6. The studio reportedly won't permit him to shave the mustache, leaving Warner Bros. to digitally remove it from Cavill's additional scenes in Justice League.

Arriving Nov. 17, Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta and J. K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.
