Late last night, news broke that Henry Cavill is in talks with Warner Bros. to reprise his role as the DC Extended Universe's Superman. At the time, it was believed that the actor's return was not for a Man of Steel sequel, but another project set in the DCEU.

Now, more details have surfaced lending credence to that claim. A new report states that the actor is set to appear in multiple films, much like Mark Ruffalo's Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to ComicBook.com, "Cavill's Superman will operate in a similar capacity to Marvel's use of Nick Fury and the Hulk, appearing in films for a supporting role or even smaller cameos. The future of Cavill's Superman has not yet been fully decided, and it sounds like Warner Bros. and DC Comics are still figuring out where the character best fits in upcoming films."

The report goes on to state that Cavill's new deal with Warner Bros. is the reason why the actor appeared alongside Zack Snyder during the director's live stream of 2013's Man of Steel. After Cavill joined the Zoom watch party, he remained on screen until the end when the director announced that his cut of Justice League would finally be released on HBO Max in 2021.

Although Ruffalo was never the star of his own solo Hulk film, the actor still became one of the MCU's most prolific actors, appearing in all four Avengers films, as well as Iron Man 3 and Thor: Ragnarok. Should Cavill's Superman take on a similar role, it's possible Superman's presence will be a major one in the DCEU moving forward.

Cavill's Superman was last seen in Justice League. However, the character (not the actor) appeared for a brief cameo at the end of the Shazam! film, an appearance that was originally intended to feature Cavill. While it has been confirmed that neither he nor any of his co-stars are expected to film new scenes, fans are sure to see more of Henry Cavill as the Last Son of Krypton in Zack Snyder's Justice League.

Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. Zack Snyder's Justice League will premiere exclusively on HBO Max in 2021.
