Legendary Entertainment has announced that Henry Cavill will play the role of Sherlock Holmes in the studio’s upcoming adaptation of the Enola Holmes book series. Cavill will play opposite Millie Bobby Brown, who plays the titular teen sleuth, and Helena Bonham Carter, who will play Enola’s mother.

The Enola Holmes series is a young adult mystery series that follows the travails of Sherlock’s young sister, Enola, who is herself a gifted detective. The series debuted in 2006 with The Case of the Missing Marquess. The most recent book is The Case of the Gypsy Goodbye, released in 2010. Six Enola books have been published in total.

The film will be directed by Harry Bradbeer, best known for directing episodes of Fleabag and Killing Eve. The script is being written by Jack Thorne, whose scriptwriting credits include Skins, as well as the upcoming His Dark Materials adaptation. Thorne is also credited with penning a script for The Sandman movie, which does not yet have a definitive release date.

Cavill is best known for his role as Superman in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. The Enola Holmes movie does not yet have a release date and additional casting information has not yet been revealed.
