Though the inherent promise of Warner Bros.' upcoming film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is a physical conflict between the two DC Comics icons -- it's right there in the title, after all.

Yet at face value, Superman's array of superpowers may seem to be a mismatch for the non-powered Batman. Comic book fans have seen this conflict play out in more even fashion in stories like "The Dark Knight Returns," and in a CinemaCon interview with JoBlo.com promoting "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.," Henry Cavill -- reprising his "Man of Steel" title role in "Batman v Superman" -- gave his thoughts on why Superman wouldn't use his superpowers to "destroy Batman" immediately.

"If Superman were Superman, which he is, he wouldn't," Cavill said. "And therein lies your answer."

When asked for his personal opinion on who would win between the two, Cavill replied, "There's no clear answer to that, obviously, as the comic books have explored repeatedly. It depends on what frame of mind Superman's in, really."

Directed by Zack Snyder, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is scheduled for release on March 25, 2016.
