Although Henry Cavill isn't ready to stop playing Superman in the DC Extended Universe yet, the actor wasn't able to reveal any plans for Man of Steel 2, though he'd like the sequel to be made.In an interview with Kevin McCarthy, Cavill shared his thoughts on the Snyder Cut of Justice League before turning his attention to a potential Man of Steel 2. "[Justice League] is very much a chapter in my past. I would rather talk about what is going to happen in the future. The future of Superman, how I can express that character from the comic books, which ties in nicely to Man of Steel. Man of Steel, I really like that movie, and I'd like to be able to tell the story where it was left at that point."Asked if such a story would be possible, Cavill replied, "I can tell you nothing, unfortunately. It would indeed be awesome."RELATED: Justice League's Deathstroke Doesn't Really Care About the Snyder Cut

Cavill first played Clark Kent/Superman in 2013's Man of Steel, which earned $668 million at the worldwide box office. He later reprised his role for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. However, the latter performed poorly at the box office, potentially losing Warner Bros. money. This left Cavill's future as the character in doubt, as reports from 2018 claimed Warner Bros. was looking to move away from the Man of Steel. However, Aquaman star Jason Momoa and Cavill's manager disputed reports the actor would no longer play Superman.

Cavill was originally intended to have a cameo at the end of Shazam!, but the actor was not able to appear due to commitments to Mission: Impossible - Fallout. At this time, it's unknown when Cavill will next play Superman in the DCEU.

Next up for the DC Extended Universe is Cathy Yan's Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), slated for release Feb. 7, 2020; Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman 1984, coming June 5 2020; James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, which arrives August 6, 2021; and Matt Reeves' solo Batman film, which will swing into theaters June 25, 2021.
