Veteran Superman actor and DC Universe star Henry Cavill gave an answer to rumors claiming that he'll play the Marvel Comics Superman expy Hyperion in Season 2 of Disney+'s Loki.

While appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Cavill debunked said rumors of his alleged trip to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, remarking, "As far as I know, I am not going to be in Loki...It would be a tricky one to handle at this stage…If James Gunn can do it, maybe I can too." This references the fact that Gunn, who is now co-chair and co-CEO of DC Studios, has made projects for both Marvel and DC, beginning with last year's The Suicide Squad for the latter.

While Cavill may not be joining the MCU as of yet, the actor recently announced his return to the role of Superman not long after the release of the DC movie Black Adam, where he cameoed as the character, sharing a picture of himself as the Man of Steel on social media along with a video containing his announcement. "A very small taste of what's to come, my friends," Cavill wrote in the description. "The dawn of hope renewed. Thank you for your patience, it will be rewarded."

What's Coming Up For Cavill?

Beyond his appearance as the Metropolis Marvel in Black Adam, Cavill is also being kept in mind for a planned sequel to his first Superman film Man of Steel by Warner Bros. Discovery. The sequel will be produced by Charles Roven and is seeking out writers for its script, with the top pick supposedly being Mission: Impossible writer/director Christopher McQuarrie. Tying into this, Cavill recently said that the Last Son of Krypton has "such a bright future ahead" for him and that the actor himself is "so excited to tell a story with an enormously joyful Superman."

On Loki's end of things, while plot details for the upcoming second season are currently under wraps, leading man and MCU alum Tom Hiddleston gave a clue as to what will happen in it, cryptically saying, "Season 2 is kind of a challenge of a question asked of the [Time Variance Authority] itself. A battle for the soul of the TVA." Before this, it had been announced that the series had gained a new head writer in Eric Martin and new directors in Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson, who had previously worked on fellow Marvel series Moon Knight.

Season 2 of Loki will premiere in mid-2023 on Disney+.
