Henry Cavill recently suggested one of the reasons he is unlikely to play James Bond, despite being a popular fan casting choice, is because of his busy schedule.

As reported by CinemaBlend, Cavill spoke on the Happy Sad Confused podcast and addressed rumors he may be the next man selected by James Bond producers to play 007. The actor stated, "I’m quite busy now. I love those guys, Barbara [Broccoli] and Mike [G. Wilson]... Whether I'm considered for the role or not, I don't know. But it'd be fun to have the conversation, for sure. And if I'm not, then I just want to see what they do with it next, because I think they’re amazing."

Daniel Craig's Potential Successor

For years, Cavill has been speculated to be a potential successor to actor Daniel Craig. In an interview, Cavill revealed he actually came close to playing 007 in Casino Royale instead of Craig, as the movie's producers liked him. However, he hinted that age was the deciding factor for them, as they ultimately went for a slightly older James Bond.

In the last year alone, Cavill's schedule has included major roles such as Geralt of Rivia on Netflix's The Witcher, Sherlock Holmes in Enola Holmes 2 and a cameo in Warner Bros.' Black Adam. Recently, Cavill announced via social media that he is leaving The Witcher and will be replaced by actor Liam Hemsworth for Season 4 and beyond.

Henry Cavill's Action-Packed Career

This is not the first time Cavill has expressed some level of interest in Bond. He previously stated that even if he didn't play the iconic spy, he would be interested in playing a Bond villain. "I will gladly have that discussion with them, and that would be something I'd be very keen to explore further," he said.

In the meantime, Cavill appears to have a lot of work in the DCU ahead of him. On top of actor Dwayne Johnson's constant hints that Superman will be a huge part of Black Adam's story, Warner Bros. executives are reportedly working on Man of Steel 2, the sequel to the 2013 film, Man of Steel, with Cavill very much being looked at for the lead. Cavill himself has said he looks forward to talking to DC Studios head James Gunn about Superman's future in the DC Universe.

Black Adam is playing in theaters now.
