Despite Henry Cavill's interest in House of the Dragon and his fantasy experience with Netflix's The Witcher, it doesn't seem like he'll be showing up in any future seasons.

Speaking to Josh Horowitz during a live recording of the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, Cavill was asked whether there was any truth to the rumors that he'd been cast in the second season of the HBO series. "To be fair, when I was watching House of the Dragon, I was like, 'I feel like a lot of these guys could make really good Witchers...' I think it would be cool to be in Westeros, I really do. I don't think there's a place for me in there, though," Cavill explained.

The Witcher star recently made headlines after he confirmed that he would not be reprising his role of Geralt of Rivia in Netflix's hit fantasy series for Seasons 4 and 5, both of which have already been greenlit. The part will instead be played by Liam Hemsworth, an announcement that divided the show's followers. Many fans speculate that Cavill's decision to end his tenure on The Witcher was to free up more time to appear as Superman in the DC Universe following his return to the role in the recent Black Adam.

Cavill isn't the only major actor who's rumored to make an appearance in House of the Dragon Season 2. Marvel Cinematic Universe star Elizabeth Olsen was also reported to have been cast before the actor swiftly shot down speculation. "I don't know how rumors like that get started and people think they're legitimate," Olsen said. While she may not currently be involved with the show, the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star did confirm that she'd be open to joining in the future.

As for Cavill, the actor was also recently said to be making his MCU debut in the near future. In mid-2022, rumors began to spread that the Man of Steel star would feature in Loki Season 2. Similar to House of the Dragon, the actor shut down the reports and insisted that he isn't a part of the Disney+ series. "As far as I know, I am not going to be in Loki...It would be a tricky one to handle at this stage…If James Gunn can do it, maybe I can too," Cavill joked.

House of the Dragon Season 1 is now streaming on HBO Max. Season 2 is expected to premiere in 2024.
