Introduced in 1958 in DC's Action Comics #242, Brainiac is a super-intelligent extraterrestrial cyborg (or android), who's perhaps best known for shrinking and stealing the city of Kandor from Superman's home world Krypton. Eagle-eyed DCEU fans may remember ta Brainiac Easter egg even made it into Man of Steel, where his logo can be seen on the bottom of one of General Zod's ships.

The villain has appeared on television in Smallville, Supergirl and, most recently, Krypton, but a role in Man of Steel 2 would be his first role in a live-action feature.

Cavill has already shown his support for Man of Steel 2, but there have still been no announcements on whether the movie is officially moving forward or who will take over from Snyder. In the meantime, there is still a chance that Cavill could put on his cape again for Shazam!.
