A new report revealed how much Henry Cavill was paid for his Superman cameos in Black Adam and The Flash.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cavill was paid $250,000 each for his appearances in the two DC movies, which he filmed before James Gunn and Peter Safran took over as co-CEOs of DC Studios. According to the report, before Gunn and Safran came into the picture, Cavill was in high demand as Warner Bros. Pictures co-chiefs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy eagerly wanted to make a Man of Steel sequel starring him.

After Cavill appeared as Superman in a Black Adam post-credits scene, the actor announced in October he was officially back as the character, promising that fans' patience would be rewarded. However, just a month and a half later, Cavill stated he would not be returning as Superman after all following a meeting with Gunn and Safran. "After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn't the easiest, but that's life," Cavill said. "The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes."

In September, Cavill also shot a cameo for The Flash, which is set to hit theaters in June 2023. However, amidst the major changes at DC Studios, it has been revealed that Cavill's cameo in that movie will be entirely cut. Gal Gadot's appearance as Wonder Woman will reportedly be removed from the film as well. These dramatic changes are a result of Gunn and Safran opting not to move forward with Cavill as Superman or Patty Jenkins' original vision for a third Wonder Woman movie starring Gadot.

Henry Cavill's DCU Future

While Cavill will not be returning as the Man of Steel, Gunn revealed he has talked to Cavill about other non-Superman DC roles. "We just had a great meeting with Henry and we’re big fans and we talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future," Gunn said. In the aftermath of Cavill's surprising departure, Gunn revealed he has started writing a new Superman movie that follows the character during an earlier part of his life.

Cavill's final appearance as Superman can be seen in Black Adam, now streaming on HBO Max.
