The following contains major spoilers for X-Men: Hellfire Gala #1, available now from Marvel.

Marvel Cinematic Universe hopeful and Hollywood icon Jon Hamm is officially part of the X-Men's world in the comics.

X-Men: Hellfire Gala #1 sees the eponymous event attract all manner of superpowered heroes, ominous villains, and otherwise ordinary human celebrities. While comedian and Deadpool writer Brian Posehn is among those to make an appearance, the most striking of them all is none other than Jon Hamm.

After interrupting a telepathic conversation between Emma Frost and Cyclops, Hamm is warmly greeted by the former. The actor even seems to have formed a fast friendship with the White Queen, even if they haven't seen one another in an unspecified amount of time. The moment is short-lived but still serves as a fun nod to the ways in which the pop culture of the real world bleeds into that of the comics.

This is hardly the first time Hamm's name has been attached to the X-Men. He previously commented on rumors that he had been approached to play Nathaniel Essex, aka Mister Sinister, in 20th Century Fox's X-Men franchise. Hamm stated, "I never shot anything. I remember having a conversation with people: I'm a huge comic book fan, especially of the X-Men and The New Mutants, so I was excited to be considered." He added, "But these conversations happen and then life intervenes."

In a more recent interview, the actor opened up about his thoughts on potentially joining the MCU at some point. "Something like the most recent Spider-Man [movie], which was such a cool iteration of that idea of the Multiverse and what's happening and how three things can exist at the same time, it's very creative," Hamm said. "The way that they lean into that creativity is something that, for sure, I'd be happy to be a part of."
