Although results of the 2016 presidential election are still sinking in, one potential candidate is already looking ahead to 2020. No, not Elizabeth Warren, Marco Rubio or even Kanye West. Think bigger.

Think Hellboy.

Providing just what this country needs right now -- if not levity then the Right Hand of Doom -- actor Ron Perlman is throwing his hat in the political ring. "I am hereby using my immense Facebook presence to announce my candidacy for President of United States, 2020," he announced. If you doubt his sincerity, just look at the accompanying photo, in which he solemnly places his hand over his heart:

He even has a slogan, "Make America Great Again, Again." We might've gone with "Red means stop!" or "Mmmmmm nachos," but that works, too.

Presumably a Perlman campaign would somehow involve Guillermo del Toro," and possibly enormous monster-fighting robots. Also, a rapid-response team headed up by Liz Sherman and Abe Sapien.

A frequent collaborator of del Toro, dating back to 1993's "Cronos," Perlman is best known for his roles in "Hellboy," "Hellboy II: The Golden Army," "Beauty and the Beast" and "Sons of Anarchy." His extensive list of credits also includes "Pacific Rim," "The City of Lost Children," "Batman: The Animated Series," "Teen Titans" and "Trollhunters."
