2022's The Game Awards has revealed Hellboy: Web of Wyrd.

Developer Upstream Arcade and publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment have collaborated to create an action-adventure game based on Mike Mignola's comic series. Before Hellboy, Upstream Arcade launched West of Dead, a 2019 shooter. Hellboy: Web of Wyrd will feature an original story in collaboration with Dark Horse Comics and Hellboy creator Mignola. As seen in the trailer, Hellboy faces a mysterious wolf demon as he attempts to rescue a missing agent of the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense.

2022's The Game Awards announced Hellboy: Web of Wyrd during the ceremony's preshow. As seen in the action-packed trailer, the video's featured artwork resembled the same style as Mignola's comics. According to the game's official description on Steam, players should prepare for "monstrous toe-to-toe brawling." "Welcome to the Butterfly House," stated the game's official announcement. "When a B.P.R.D. agent vanishes inside the mansion, it's up to Hellboy and his team of agents to uncover its forbidden secrets."

Released in 2008, Hellboy: The Science of Evil adapted Guillermo del Toro's 2004 Hellboy film. The game launched for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PlayStation Portable, with three playable characters: Hellboy, Abe Sapien and Liz Sherman. Jürgen Prochnow voiced The Science of Evil's main villain, Herman von Klempt. While all three games have similar storylines, the PSP version differed slightly. In 2000, the Hellboy franchise received its first video game adaptation with Dogs of the Night for PC and Playstation under the title Asylum Seeker.

In addition to his own games, Hellboy also appeared in the 2017 fighting title Injustice 2 through its DLC in the Fighter Pack 2. Injustice 2 served as the sequel to 2013's Injustice: Gods Among Us. In 2018, an expanded version of Injustice 2 released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows. Other featured characters include Aquaman, Blue Beetle, Black Adam and Green Lantern.

Hellboy first appeared in San Diego Comic-Con Comics #2 in August 1993. Since the character's debut, filmmakers have adapted Hellboy into three live-action films, including one in 2019 starring Stranger Things actor David Harbour. The titular character works for the B.R.P.D, an international agency that fights against sinister beings like witches and Nazis. The half-demon comics character came to Earth after Nazi occultists summoned him.

Hellboy: Web of Wyrd will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on an undetermined date.
