A new poster has been unveiled for the upcoming Hellboy reboot, along with confirmation that the first trailer will drop this Thursday.
The news was revealed at IGN, where the film's IMAX poster signaled hellish times are indeed ahead. This new poster focuses on Hellboy, with his fully-grown horns front and center, and a fiery crown above his head next to the movie's logo. He's clearly represented here as his demonic persona, Anung Un Rama, with the tagline "Demons have demons too" indicating he'll be fighting an internal war as well as his heritage.
Fans who attended this year's New York Comic Con got an exclusive look at footage from the film, but this is the first trailer for the public, whetting the appetites of fans who want to see how director Neil Marshall's vision differs from Guillermo del Toro's take on the character.
From the first image released of David Harbour as the titular hero, all we know so far is that the reboot will be much more violent and bloody than the earlier installments, as Hellboy gets ready to tussle with Milla Jovovich's Blood Queen.
The film’s screenplay, written by character creator Mike Mignola, Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Aron Coleite, draws inspiration from the comic storylines "Darkness Calls," "The Wild Hunt" and "The Storm and the Fury," which depict the rise of Nimue, the medieval British sorceress who becomes the the Blood Queen and seeks to destroy humanity.
Debuting April 12, 2019, Neil Marshall’s Hellboy stars David Harbour as Hellboy, Ian McShane as Trevor Bruttenholm, Milla Jovovich as Nimue, Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan, Penelope Mitchell as Ganeida and Daniel Dae Kim as Ben Daimio.
