Just yesterday, David Harbour teased Hellboy fans with a photo that revealed pre-production for the highly-anticipated reboot was officially underway. Now, thanks to some new tidbits from the Stranger Things star, it appears Harbour won't have to wait very long to put his Right Hand of Doom to work.

"We’re supposed to [begin filming] in September, I hope,” Harbour revealed to TheWrap. “It’s good. It’s a whole new thing. I’d always been a fan of the comics and there’s a darker tone to it and I think in the climate we have now there’s kind of a darker… a desire for more of that… the script is good and this guy Neil Marshall (The Descent) is directing who’s really good and the aesthetic is great.”

The new R-rated take was announced last month. Former Hellboy director Guillermo del Toro was still circling a third entry in his tenure with the character as recently as January, before the studio decided to take the character in a darker direction with Marshall at the helm.

Harbour went on to cite his role in Stranger Things as the part that sold him as a good fit for Hellboy in the eyes of Marshall and company. "I think [Chief Hopper] has some parallels to him," he explained. "I think he’s another complicated anti-hero who is not strictly good or bad, he’s just trying to do the right thing. I think he’s a demon, he’s crazy, and he’s also sweet and vulnerable and neurotic… so there’s a lot of complexity there.”

Tentatively titled Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, the upcoming reboot was scripted by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Mike Mignola. The film has yet to be given a release date.
