Hellboy Teaser Trailer Officially Released in All Its Fiery Glory

Hellboy trailer

Following a leak earlier today, Lionsgate has premiered the teaser trailer for director Neil Marshall's Hellboy reboot, a day ahead of schedule.

The footage is set, in part, to Billy Idol's 1981 cover of "Mony Mony," which helps to quickly establish a tone that mixes humor and action, with dashes of horror. There are also flashes of gore, which is in keeping with the film's R rating but may nevertheless come as a surprise to fans of Mike Mignola's beloved comic book property.

The teaser, of course, prominently features David Harbour as Hellboy, with Ian McShane as his adoptive father Trevor Bruttenholm, Daniel Dae Kim as shape-shifting B.P.R.D. member Ben Daimio, Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan, a young woman kidnapped by fairies as a child, and Milla Jovovich as the infamous Blood Queen Nimue.

The film draws inspiration from the comic book miniseries Darkness Calls, The Wild Hunt and The Storm and the Fury, and those versed in Hellboy canon will no doubt spot elements from those stories in the teaser, including -- wait for it -- Babba Yaga's hut.

Arriving April 12, 2019, director Neil Marshall’s Hellboy stars David Harbour as Hellboy, Ian McShane as Trevor Bruttenholm, Milla Jovovich as Nimue, Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan, Penelope Mitchell as Ganeida and Daniel Dae Kim as Ben Daimio.
