Mike Mignola has posted a new Hellboy sketch to Twitter, endorsing Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the upcoming United States Presidential election.The sketch features the World's Greatest Paranormal Investigator bearing a shirt with the Biden/Harris 2020 campaign logo underneath his trademark duster. Hellboy is also sporting a face mask, reminding Mignola's fans to practice proper health procedures during the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Mignola has auctioned off several sketches in the past few months to support those affected by the pandemic, with proceeds going to the World Central Kitchen.
Created by Mignola in 1993, Hellboy is best known for his role with the B.P.R.D. (Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense) where he investigates the supernatural. He is well known for his massive stone hand, which is called "The Right Hand Of Doom" and serves as the literal key to the Apocalypse. Hellboy is one of Dark Horse Comics' flagship characters, and has launched several spinoff comics in addition to three live-action films and even a board game.
This is not the first time Hellboy has been involved with politics. Ron Perlman, who portrayed the character in Hellboy (2004) and Hellboy II: The Golden Army, has been fairly outspoken on Twitter with his criticisms of President Donald Trump, prompting a response from Senator Ted Cruz, who has even gone so far as to challenge Perlman to a wrestling match.
