IESB talked to actor Ron Perlman, who confirmed that the sequel script for the Mignola-inspired adaptation has been turned in to the studio. He also talked about the possibility of del Toro pulling a Bryan Singer and jumping ship in favor of “Halo,” leaving the production to find a new director.
FANTASTIC FOUR 2
Back to the Baxter Building — the Vancouver Sun is reporting that location scouts are scouring the Canadian province for places to shoot the second story of Marvel’s first family.
In the deluge of previews for set visits, we missed a set of quotes at IGN’s FilmForce, including Brandon Routh discussing his views of Kal-El’s motivations. “He’s got a bigger message. He really wants to change the world but not just by saving things, by being an influence that people can see,” said Routh. “If Superman just saves things, people feel like he can do everything for them and that’s all they get from him. But if he can influence them so they can aspire to be better in their life or different in their life, that’s a great thing. I don’t know if I’ve made that evident in the film, but that’s what I’m working on portraying.”
JACK THE LANTERN
According to Fangoria, “the folks at Castle Rain Entertainment informed Fango that their cult comic series ‘JACK THE LANTERN’ has been optioned for feature filming by producer Joe Aresco and producer/screenwriter Larry Koch, the latter of whom also co-scripted the soon-to-roll fright feature ‘JAWBONE.'”
THAT’S A WRAP, JOE
Here’s where you get in on the action. Did you see a link we didn’t catch? Have you snuck into a closed movie set, and have inside data? Maybe your cousin is dating somebody who knows something, and they had to tell you? Whatever it is, we wanna know it all — fire off an email and let us know whether you want your name used or your contributions to geekdom to go down anonymously. Broadcasting live from Los Angeles, this is novelist/reviewer/karaoke host/all-around lunatic Hannibal Tabu saying thanks for your time and indulgence, I’ve been told you’ll get double sized comic book reviews covering the New year’s break early next week, and [tagline sent back to development hell until something hipper can be dreamed up].
