Helena Bonham Carter's Red Queen isn't dead, long live the queen! Variety reports the actress who played the large-headed monarch in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland is in final negotiations to return for the Disney sequel Through the Looking Glass.

James Bobin, who directed The Muppets and Muppets Most Wanted, takes over directing duties. Although pot details are being kept under wraps, Lewis Carroll's 1871 novel followed Alice as she walked through her mirror into a strange kingdom where she comes across both new and familiar characters.

Bonham Carter would join fellow returning stars Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska. Through the Looking Glass is scheduled for release on May 27, 2016.
