While many fans of Watchmen have been eagerly awaiting the upcoming HBO adaptation, little has been revealed about what the series will look like. But a new tease offers a tantalizing clue.

Uploaded to Intagram, the post features an ominous GIF of a police officer wearing a strange yellow mask over the lower half of his face, and a look of shock adorning his eyes, while what appears to smoke or fog dances in the background. To add to the eeriness of the video, the famous tagline of the franchise, "Who Watches The Watchmen?," accompanies as a caption.

If the video is any indication, the series will retain the dark tone of the original comic, and the police may play a significant part in the series' mythos. However, the scene may also play into an existing part of the comic, most notably the riot Nite-Owl and the Comedian attempt to quell in a flashback. Whatever the scene entails, it looks as though the world of Watchmen still won't be a pretty one when it comes to the small screen.
