HBO's Watchmen Featurette Offers Loads of New Footage

With HBO's eagerly anticipated television adaptation of Watchmen premiering next month, the upcoming series has released a new featurette showcasing previously unseen footage and setting up the continuation of the classic comic book story by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.

Interspersed with commentary from the cast and crew, including Damon Lindelof, who developed the landmark comic story for television, the promo features an immersive look into the new world. Following the events of the comic, superheroes had largely retired in the subsequent decades -- until the start of the television series, that is.

The featurette shows the rise of a new terrorist organization, which targets law enforcement officials and forces police to conceal their identities behind masks. This leads to heightened civil unrest, as chaos begins to spread across the volatile country once again.

As Jeremy Irons' Ozymandias is seen observing the increased violence with amusement, Regina King's new masked vigilante takes center stage, while the world descends into masked hysteria.

Developed by Damon Lindelof, HBO's Watchmen stars Jeremy Irons, Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Tom Mison, James Wolk, Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, Lily Rose Smith and Adelynn Spoon. The series will premiere Oct. 20.
