WARNING: The following contains spoilers for "Trick," the Season 1 finale of HBO's Run.

HBO's Run leaves Billy (Domhnall Gleeson) stumbling smack into the ground by the time the Season 1 finale wraps at Union Station. The cops are en route to take him in for Fiona's (Archie Panjabi) death and Ruby (Merritt Wever), surprisingly, is the one who turned him in.

She saw the video he made pitching their running away together as a book and betrayed him, thinking he was nothing more than an opportunist who'd dragged her down. As Ruby walks off with her family, though, there are threads left that set up a fugitive-filled Season 2 for the couple.

BILLY'S NEW RUN

The season ends with a dejected Billy watching Ruby walk off but that doesn't mean he'll just stay where he is and wait for the cops. He has all the money Fiona tried to steal so there's a good possibility he might go on the run again, but this time as a wanted man. He told Ruby he didn't push Fiona to her death at the farmhouse, he just let her hand go when she asked him to, so maybe Billy can find the right shady lawyer a la Better Call Saul to help him out.

Pursuing Billy would also give Deputy Sheriff Cloud (Tamara Podemski) purpose as she tracked him and struck a deal with Ruby to take him in. Cloud's desperate for approval back in her small town so she would be the Tommy Lee Jones to Billy's Harrison Ford in Run's comedic take on The Fugitive. Plus, there's always a chance Billy might try to contact Ruby and make amends for his past.

RUBY'S FAMILY PREDICAMENT

Fiona recorded Billy and Ruby having sex and threatened to send the audio file to Ruby's husband, Laurence (Rich Sommer). And after Cloud found Laurence's number on Fiona's phone, we know he and Fiona spoke, but we don't know what they discussed -- or if Laurence has heard the file. However, the fact he came to pick Ruby up suggests he doesn't want to end their marriage. Creator Vicky Jones has said she wants Sommer back in Season 2 and it's possible the show could have him returning the favor and running off with the kids without Ruby.

The more likely scenario, however, is, given how erratic Ruby is and her weakness for Billy, Season 2 can open on the same chaotic vibe as Season 1 with Ruby jumping out of Laurence's car or even stealing it to rescue Billy. Ruby has said she wants excitement and the fugitive life would give her that while also being the perfect warped test to see if their love is true. In any case, it'd end her time as a bored housewife for sure.

THE FARMHOUSE FACTOR

Laurel (Phoebe Waller-Bridge), the taxidermist who slept with Cloud after she found Fiona's body and who drove her to L.A. to catch Billy, was sent back home. However, there's a chance she connects with Cloud once more in Season 2, leading to a buddy-cop bounty hunting experience. The pair's chemistry is solid but they really didn't factor into the finale as much, so Jones has a chance to make them matter as characters once more next season.

More so, there's still the case of Daniel (Kelsey Flower) to address. Fiona died at his farmhouse and Laurel hid him from the cops, so there could be a hunt for him too as he scampered away at the start of the finale. Cloud retrieved Fiona's phone from him and owes him retribution for their scuffle, so Daniel on the run could be a new chapter, taking focus away from the disaster that is Billy and Ruby.

Starring Merritt Wever and Domhnall Gleeson, Run airs Sundays on HBO at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.
