The consequences of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic are unprecedented. The outbreak has impacted nearly every facet of everyday life and compelled millions to confine themselves within their own homes in an effort to limit the spread of the disease. In order to help those people bide their time, HBO has come up with a new offer.In a major announcement, the network revealed that it has plans to provide audiences everywhere with almost 500 hours of television and movies. The social media post linked to a press release in which HBO stated that the offer was being made "to provide some entertainment relief for those doing their part to keep everyone safe and healthy." The network then explained that the service would be free "for a limited time on HBO NOW and HBO GO–without a subscription–starting this Friday, April 3."RELATED: HBO Now Viewership Skyrockets Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

The release went on to explain that users will initially have to download the HBO Now or HBO Go apps to access the free content, but that the programming would be made available through "participating distribution partners' platforms in the coming days."

Some of the films to be made available include major hits such as Pokémon Detective Pikachu and classics like Empire of the Sun and Crazy, Stupid, Love. Television shows include all seven seasons of The Sopranos, seven seasons of True Blood and seven seasons of Veep, among several others. As of yet, there is no word on how long the offer will last.
