In a recent interview, Chun confirmed there will be some thrilling cameos in the animated series. He also revealed original director from the 1984 Gremlins film Joe Dante is a consulting producer, and said there will be "Easter eggs and Gremlins mythology that hopefully will satisfy long term fans while also bringing in new ones."

The story of Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai will follow Mr. Wing, the owner of the shop where Peltzer first meets Gizmo in the first Gremlins film, as a 10-year-old boy in 1920's China. Set against a backdrop of Chinese mythology, the show will follow the young Wing as he meets Gizmo for the first time and they join up for adventures.

Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai is written and executive produced by Tse Chun and produced by Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey, Sam Register and Brendan Hay. The series will be available exclusively on WarnerMedia's streaming service, HBO Max, in 2021. The first season will consist of 10 half-hour episodes.
