Launched in May 2020, HBO Max is quickly becoming the go-to place for DC movies and TV shows. The streaming service, which offers a large variety of shows and movies from Warner Brothers' century-long history, was launched with much fanfare and many problems. Most notably, the service wasn't initially available on Amazon or Roku devices until months after release.

Luckily for everyone, those problems have been taken care of, and now everyone can gain access to the library of titles the service offers, which includes a lot of DC's heroes and villains. From classic cartoons to recent movies, HBO Max has something for every superhero lover out there, but with so many options, it can be hard to find the best of the best.

10 Batman v Superman Ultimate Edition

Batman & Superman stare each other down in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

The follow-up to 2013's Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice set up the DCEU for bigger and better things by introducing Batman and Wonder Woman to the film universe and having cameos of Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman. The theatrical version of the film, released in 2016, was met with mixed reviews and has led to a lot of debate. While Zack Snyder's Ultimate Edition doesn't fix every problem that critics had with the movie, it helps flesh out the story and better explains its actions.

9 Doom Patrol

Created for the DC Universe streaming service, the first two seasons of Doom Patrol have migrated over to HBO Max, and a third season is on the way. Based on DC's strangest superhero team, the show has all the fun and action of the comics mixed with a fair amount of comedy and a whole lot of heart.

While Doom Patrol hasn't received as many headlines as the Titans series, it has been met with critical acclaim, especially for the work of the excellent cast, and the announcement of the third season was a welcome gift for fans, especially after the second season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

8 The Harley Quinn Show

Another series created for DC Universe, the Harley Quinn animated series stands out as one of the best shows today. Between the crude jokes and violent gags, Harley Quinn is a show about friendship, love, and dealing with the effects of an abusive past.

The show, developed by Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, and Dean Lorey and starring Kaley Cuoco as Harley and Lake Bell as Poison Ivy, features a slew of DC characters that was recently renewed for a third season that will air exclusively on HBO Max.

7 Constantine

Released in 2005, Constantine was initially met with concern by comic fans but quickly won them over. The movie, directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Keanu Reeves as the titular character, moves John Constantine's adventures from England to Los Angeles and turns the character into an American with dark hair. However, the overall feel of the comics is still there, making for a great movie. With recent rumors of a possible sequel being in the works - rumors pushed by one of the movie stars - now is a great time to watch - or rewatch - the movie.

6 Stargirl

The last series created for the DC Universe streaming service, the first season of Stargirl ended up being on DC Universe, the CW, and HBO Max. The show, which follows Courtney Whitmore and her friends' adventures as they become teen superheroes who battle the Injustice Society, is a fun family show filled with some great superhero fights and a lot of heart. With DC Universe transitioning to a comics-only service, Stargirl moves to the CW, but further seasons will come to HBO Max after they air on TV.

5 Justice League: The New Frontier

Justice League: The New Frontier animated

The second film released under the DC Universe Animated Original Movies banner by Warner Bros. Animation, Justice League: The New Frontier is an animated version of Darwyn Cooke's iconic mini-series. While the animated film cannot capture the full greatness of Cooke's comic, it is a wonderful take on the material.

Like the comic it is based on, Justice League: The New Frontier is set in the early 1960s as the heroes of the DC Universe begin to make themselves known to the world, leading to the formation of the greatest superhero team all time.

4 The Lego Batman Movie

A spin-off from 2014's Lego Movie, The Lego Batman Movie, brings the Lego universe's animated style and wacky comedy to Gotham City. The movie, which is filled with DC superhero and villain cameos, focuses on a Batman who has separated himself from everyone but his trusty butler Alfred, but soon finds himself raising a young Dick Grayson as Joker plans to get his revenge for some mean things the Dark Knight said to him the last time they fought. The Lego Batman Movie is filled with great jokes and DC deep cuts that make it worth watching more than once.

3 Teen Titans (2003)

The team from 2003's Teen Titans

In the 1980s, the Teen Titans became the biggest comic in DC's stable, which was quite a surprise to the industry. Some twenty years later, the teen heroes team became a hit on TV, too, with 2003's Teen Titans animated series. Originally airing on Cartoon Network, Teen Titans ran for five seasons over three years and gained a dedicated fanbase. The success of the series led to a revival in 2012 in the form of short animated stories. These, in turn, were spun off into Teen Titans Go!, an animated series that is still going after 300 episodes and a theatrically released film.

2 Watchmen (2019)

Trying to make a sequel to Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' Watchmen is a crazy idea. Even crazier is to make a sequel that is a TV series instead of a comic. Still, HBO and Damon Lindeloff sought to do just that, and by a mix of real talent both in front of and behind the camera and a little luck, they created a great season of television.

Set 34-years after the comics' events, 2019's Watchmen reveals a world where white supremacists have taken on Rorschach as their icon. Police officers dress like vigilantes, and dead squid regularly falls from the sky. After nine great episodes that tell a complete story, the decision was made to leave well enough alone and end the series.

1 Wonder Woman 1984

The sequel to the 2017 critical and commercial blockbuster, Wonder Woman 1984, premiered on HBO Max on Christmas Day 2020 after a series of delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, the reactions to WW84 haven't been as universally positive as they were for the first film. Still, with a third film in the series already confirmed, it is clear that Warner Brothers is more than happy with the way the movie has performed for their service. Along with Gadot returning as Wonder Woman, WW84 also sees Chris Pine come back as Steve Trevor. Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascale play the villains Cheetah and Maxwell Lord.
