After lengthy delays caused by a litany of issues, Warner Bros.' Wonder Woman 1984 was recently released in theaters and on HBO Max. However, the film's premiere on the streaming service was evidently hindered by glitches and crashes, reported by a number of users.

In spite of the occurrence of technical issues for some, an HBO Max spokesperson reportedly stated that "HBO Max did not experience any significant disruptions." It is also worth noting that the film has already seen significant success, though Warner Bros. has not yet released box office figures.

Aside from reports of the HBO Max app crashing, users also reported issues signing in to watch Wonder Woman 1984, some of which relate to the use of Roku-- the player used to stream films and television shows on HBO Max. Some of the issues pertained to visual and audio quality, as well as skipped frames and more that only appeared to affect Wonder Woman 1984. HBO Max is currently tending to customer complaints on social media.

The Wonder Woman sequel has been delayed several times. It was originally scheduled to premiere on Dec. 13, 2019. Although the release was pushed up to November, it was pushed back again to June 5, 2020. Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the necessary closure of theaters, the premiere was forced to be delayed to Aug. 14, then again to Oct. 2. Due to the current uncertainty surrounding cinemas across the globe, Warner Bros. announced that its entire film slate for 2021 would be released in theaters, where available, and on HBO Max simultaneously. However, these films will only be available on the streaming service for one month.

The move has been heavily criticized by filmmakers -- including DCEU director Zack Snyder, Christopher Nolan and more -- and other figures from across the industry. Certain theaters have responded to Warner Bros.' approach by slashing ticket prices.
