HBO Max debuted the new logo for the upcoming Suicide Squad spinoff series Peacemaker.

The logo is surprisingly tame for such a decidedly NSFW character, with the show's title in a wholesome, '50s-esque superhero font and a dove in the background.

The new logo was released in conjunction with the show's first clip. The footage saw Peacemaker meeting up with his new team at an Italian restaurant, where he explained the importance of his uniform (don't call it a costume) while his eagle sidekick Eagly waited in the car.

Peacemaker picks up after the events of The Suicide Squad, the post-credits scene of which found John Cena's Christopher Smith laid up in a hospital bed after being shot in the throat by Bloodsport. The show is created by The Suicide Squad writer/director James Gunn, who's also helming several episodes of the first season. While only one season was greenlit, however, Gunn thinks there's more than enough material to work with across multiple seasons.

"At the end of The Suicide Squad, [Idris Elba’s] Bloodsport learns a lot. He's a better person than he was at the beginning," Gunn recently explained. "A lot of the characters are much better than they were at the beginning, and Peacemaker has a lot to learn. It’s that ability to learn that for me makes him a little bit more likable. His blindspots in some places are pretty terrible, and in some places are him being ignorant. I think that’s an important distinction to make as well. He is open at the same time, sometimes."

This wasn't the first time Gunn made his desire to see multiple seasons of Peacemaker clear. "You know, there's not a big plan in place, but again, it's something that I would love to do and I know that the cast would love to do," Gunn said in August. "So we're all, you know, we haven't been picked up yet. So we'll just have to see what happens from HBO Max."

In addition to Cena, Peacemaker will see the return of The Suicide Squad's Steve Agee and Jennifer Holland. They'll be joined by Chris Conrad as Adrian Chase/Vigilante and Nhut Le as Judomaster, among others.

Peacemaker premieres on HBO Max in January 2022.
