2019's Swamp Thing is the only DC Universe original series without any kind of presence on the HBO Max streaming service -- and according to a new report, it's going to stay that way.

As part of the latest edition of his Inside Line feature, TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich was asked if fans could expect DC Universe's Swamp Thing to make the jump to HBO Max. It's unclear if the person asking the question was asking if there were plans for HBO Max to revive Swamp Thing for additional seasons, or just if there were plans to make the existing season available to stream on HBO Max. Either way, however, the answer is no. "There are no plans at this time for Swamp Thing to branch out to WarnerMedia's main streaming service," Mitovich wrote.

Swamp Thing premiered on the DC Universe streaming service on May 31, 2019 to critical acclaim. Less than one week later, it was announced that DC Universe had canceled the show and that it would not be returning for additional episodes beyond its 10-episode first season. The cancellation was reportedly tied to an accounting error made by the state of North Carolina, where Swamp Thing Season 1 was filmed. In a subsequent statement regarding the cancellation, WarnerMedia said, "We appreciate there are questions as to 'why,' but unfortunately we are not in a position to answer at this time."

Swamp Thing Season 1 (i.e. the entire series) concluded its run on DC Universe on Aug. 2, 2019. As WarnerMedia began to phase out DC Universe in favor of HBO Max, Swamp Thing made the jump to The CW, which aired the supernatural DC series' first season on broadcast television from Oct. 6, 2020 to Dec. 22, 2020. DC Universe as a streaming service was officially discontinued in January of 2021.

While Swamp Thing is currently streaming on The CW's website and app, as previously stated, it is the only DC Universe original to lack a presence on HBO Max. As DC Universe was phased out and ultimately discontinued, Titans, Doom Patrol, Harley Quinn and Young Justice all became HBO Max originals, complete with new seasons. Rather than a Max original, DC Universe's Stargirl instead became a CW original. However, Stargirl Season 1 is currently streaming on HBO Max, with Season 2 expected to join it soon now that its run on The CW has concluded. Stargirl will return on The CW for Season 3.

Swamp Thing Season 1 is currently streaming on The CW's app and website.
