All the way back in July, it was announced that Doom Patrol had been renewed for a second season at not only its home streaming service of DC Universe, but also the brand-new HBO Max. This has led to speculation regarding what the future could hold for DC Universe and its relationship with WarnerMedia's new flagship service. However, HBO Max has now confirmed that, at this time, there are no plans for any other DC Universe originals to be brought over.

Doom Patrol Season 2 will launch on DC Universe and HBO Max simultaneously this June -- something HBO Max content chief Kevin Reilly was recently asked about this in a interview with Business Insider. "There have been extensive discussions around DCU because DC is such a valuable entity to us and the depth of fandom is so important," he said. "So we really want to figure out how we walk this line for fans where we have a deep fan engagement, which is why DCU was designed, and a broader fan engagement.

"That is evolving but there were high-end series that DCU produced that felt like, budgetarily, we could handle from a business model better, and bring along and service that swath of fans," Reilly continued. "Doom Patrol was a show we identified that had deep love for it and tucked right into our portfolio." Following these comments from Reilly, a representative for HBO Max told Business Insider that there are "no current plans for any other DCU show" to join the HBO Max lineup. That said, of course, the new service will include its own original slate of DC programs.

There have been a fair amount of changes regarding the streaming of DC-based television shows as of late. While they will evidently not be coming to HBO Max, some DC Universe originals have found a second home at The CW. New episodes of the recently premiered Stargirl air on The CW one day after they debut on DC Universe. The CW also recently acquired the broadcast rights to Swamp Thing, which was canceled at DC Universe after one season. Similarly, the animated series Harley Quinn has found a second home at Syfy.

Speaking of The CW, however, the network's streaming deal with Netflix recently came to an end. So, while Arrowverse series like The Flash, Supergirl, DC's Legends of Tomorrow and Arrow itself will remain on the service for the team, freshman series Batwoman is -- in fact -- available on HBO Max as a launch title.

Streaming now on DC Universe and HBO Max, Doom Patrol stars Brendan Fraser as Cliff Steele, Matt Bomer as Larry Trainor, Diana Guerrero as Crazy Jane, Alan Tudyk as Mr. Nobody, April Bowlby as Rita Farr, Joivan Wade as Vic Stone and Timothy Dalton as Niles Caulder. Season 2 premieres on both services Thursday, June 25.
