Finn Wittrock (American Horror Story) has been cast in the role of Guy Gardner for HBO Max's Green Lantern live-action series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wittrock's Guy Gardner is described as "a hulking mass of masculinity, and, as rendered in the comics, an embodiment of 1980s hyper-patriotism. And yet, Guy is somehow likable." The streamer is also reportedly searching for an actor to portray classic Green Lantern Alan Scott.

An actor to play Alan Scott is reportedly set to be announced soon, with the Justice Society hero and first Earth-born Green Lantern is slated to be one of the central figures of the HBO Max series. It is being reported that Executive Producer Greg Berlanti had been in talks with Ryan Murphy on Wittrock's availability since he is the lead on Season 2 of Murphy's Ratched. However, with Ratched Season 2 not having a start date for production, Murphy agreed to let Green Lantern take priority for Wittrock. A March report stated that Green Lantern was scheduled to begin production on April 12 in Los Angeles.

Created by John Broome and Gil Kane, Guy Gardner first appeared in 1968's Green Lantern #59 and followed Hal Jordan and John Stewart as an Earthbound member of the Green Lantern Corps. He's appeared in other media including Green Lantern: The Animated Series  and Justice League/Justice League Unlimited on Cartoon Network.

The synopsis for HBO Max's Green Lantern can be found below.

Green Lantern reinvents the classic DC property through a story spanning decades and galaxies, beginning on Earth in 1941 with the very first Green Lantern, secretly gay FBI agent Alan Scott, and 1984, with cocky alpha male Guy Gardner and half-alien Bree Jarta. They'll be joined by a multitude of other Lanterns — from comic book favorites to never-before-seen heroes.

Executive produced by Geoff Johns and written by Seth Grahame-Smith and Marc Guggenheim, HBO Max's Green Lantern series has yet to receive a premiere date.
