Friends: The Reunion almost beat out Wonder Woman 1984 in total streaming views.

As reported by Variety, the Friends reunion special was watched by approximately 29% of streaming households in the United States when it released on HBO Max May 27, almost surpassing Wonder Woman 1984, which garnered 32% of streaming households in the U.S. upon its Christmas Day release on HBO Max.

These numbers were reported by TVision, a connected-TV analytics provider, which also stated that 55.4% of viewers for Friends: The Reunion were female, with more than 50% between the ages of 35 and 54.

By comparison, HBO Max users spent 2.25 billion minutes watching Wonder Woman 1984 in its first week; nearly 15 million complete plays of the 151-minute film, making it the #1 streaming title for Dec. 21-27, 2020, according to ratings service Neilson. The simultaneous release of the Wonder Woman sequel on HBO Max and in theaters also pushed the total number of domestic HBO and HBO Max subscriptions to 41.5 million, two years ahead of AT&T's original forecasts.

Friends: The Reunion featured the return of original cast members Jennifer Anniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer. Also featured were a variety of guest stars, including Tom Selleck, James Michael Tyler, David Beckham, Justin Bieber, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga, Elliott Gould, Kit Harington, Larry Hankin, Mindy Kaling, Maggie Wheeler, Reese Witherspoon and Malala Yousafzai.

Friends: The Reunion and all 236 episodes of Friends are currently available to stream on HBO Max.
