HBO, once home to the critically acclaimed "Deadwood," is getting back into the Western business.

Entertainment Weekly reports the cable channel is teaming with Peter Berg ("Lone Survivor," "Friday Night Lights") to develop "Untamed," which follows three travelers in 1840s Wyoming as they set out across the Rocky Mountains to Utah.

Berg will direct, with Mark L. Smith ("Vacancy," "The Revenant") writing the script. They'll both serve as executive producers.

"Untamed" joins a development slate that includes an update of "Westworld," from J.J. Abrams and Jonathan Nolan, and a remake of the U.K. conspiracy thriller "Utopia," from David Fincher and Gillian Flynn.
