Artist Liam Sharp has shared his variant cover for Hawkman Found #1 via his Twitter account.

As he says in his tweet, the image is based off a layout from artist Andy Kubert, and depicts Hawkman under attack by a giant hawk monster. Reaching back into the history of the DC Universe, this massive figure could be the Hawk God himself, who could serve as a counterpart to the Bat God Barbatos.

As Sharp alludes to in his tweet, the cover will see the shelves on December 27, the day Hawkman Found #1 is due for release. Could this cover hint at a large battle between Hawkman and this Hawk God?

This Dark Nights: Metal tie-in issue will bring Hawkman back to the DC Universe following his death at the end of Death of Hawkman. Solicitations seem to suggest that a mystery surrounding Carter Hall will be explored:

One of DC’S greatest heroes is missing! No one has seen or heard from Carter Hall—a.k.a. Hawkman—in years. Reincarnated repeatedly since the dawn of humanity, Hawkman has spent his many lives uncovering history’s most fantastic mysteries, and now he has become one himself! Take a journey into the one of the darkest corners of the DC Universe as a mysterious man tries to piece together what happened to Hawkman, and how it all connects to the events of DARK NIGHTS: METAL!

The issue is written by Jeff Lemire with interior art from Kevin Nowlan and Bryan Hitch. Hitch and Jim Lee will also be providing covers.
