WARNING: The following contains spoilers for the first two episodes of Hawkeye, now streaming on Disney+.

There have been a slew of rumors about characters from the Netflix Marvel shows returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin has been the subject of several of them. In the comics, Kingpin is the adoptive father and sometimes-opponent of Echo, who was just introduced at the end of the second episode of Disney+'s Hawkeye. Therefore, fans have wondered about the possibility of Fisk showing up on the show as well, and even D'Onofrio has fanned the flames, writing Tweets and speaking publicly about his possible return (or lack thereof).

The first two episodes of Hawkeye didn't feature any clues that Kingpin would appear on the show, but there is a connection to his last known location in the MCU. In Daredevil, he was at the Presidential Hotel; although, in the real world it's been known as the Lotte New York Palace Hotel. While no name is given to it in the new series, it's the same location.

Kingpin at the Presidential Hotel in Daredevil Season 3

In the third and final season of Daredevil, Fisk gives the FBI information on the Albanian crime syndicate. After this, he stages an attack on himself in prison, then claims that he feels unsafe there. If he's attacked again, then he cannot help the FBI catch more criminals, so he's moved into a highly supervised apartment in the Presidential Hotel on the condition that he continues to act as an informant. During his stay, he manipulates more of the agents and security staff and gets more privileges.

He also begins to use the hotel as sort of a home base. For instance, he attends some meetings outside of the hotel, but he does some of his dealings inside its walls. When Vanessa returns to New York, she also joins him in his apartment, and they have their lavish wedding in its ballroom. Furthermore, the hotel is also the site of his takedown and defeat by Daredevil.

The hotel, specifically its ballroom, is also the site of the charity gala that Eleanor Bishop attends in the Hawkeye premiere -- and the hotel's basement is the site of the secret, illicit auction that her fiancé, Jack, and his uncle, Armand, attend that same night. Kate joins her mother at the gala, but after a suspicious run-in with Armand, she sneaks downstairs to the auction. It's there that Kate sees Jack bid on, and win, the sword used by Ronin. She also acquires Ronin's suit here.

Jack's interest in this sword, and other swords, references his comic alter-ego -- Swordsman. While Kate doesn't know he's a villain, she does piece together that something is up with him after witnessing the black market auction in the hotel. She also has no way of knowing that the hotel has been a suspicious location in the greater MCU, but the audience can recognize the location.

It seems, then, that Hawkeye is establishing (or re-establishing) the Presidential Hotel as a potential hotspot for wealthy criminals in New York City. It even seems possible that Eleanor Bishop -- a prominent businesswoman and someone who might have criminal connections even outside of her fiancé -- could have been one of the wealthy guests at Fisk's wedding. The MCU isn't prone to reusing locations casually, so this connection seems noteworthy.
