Kelly Thompson wrote a new prose story focused on Kate Bishop, aka Hawkeye.

Titled "The More Things Change, the More They Stay the Same," the story is hosted on Marvel's official website and features Bishop dealing with a broken leg and the possibility that her neighbor might be a supervillain. In addition, she is processing the fallout from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Within the story, Bishop discusses how the pandemic came as a surprise — a statement that will resonate with readers. "I mean, we were all waiting for the apocalypse of course... a zombie one, a nuclear winter one, even a sharknado one…but the one where you have to stay home for months on end by yourself and watch your life and loved ones slip away either metaphorically or literally or both? Yeah, nobody wrote stories about that," the archer laments.

In addition to Thompson's prose, Stefano Caselli provided an illustration of Bishop in her cast and wheelchair, aiming an arrow through her window. VC's Joe Sabino did lettering for the image. Thompson and Castelli previously worked on West Coast Avengers, where Bishop was a member of the eponymous team.

Marvel Tales features prose from celebrated comic book writers, alongside illustrations featuring the characters the prose is based on. Ms. Marvel co-creator G. Willow Wilson and artist Nico Leon previously collaborated on a prose story featuring Kamala Khan, which was written to support essential workers.
