Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner is ready for the world to meet Kate Bishop and the kind of heroic archer audiences can expect to see in the upcoming Disney+ series.

While previewing the upcoming Disney+ series for Entertainment Weekly, Renner discussed Kate's character and her upcoming television debut. "[Kate is] a 22-year-old kid and she's a big Hawkeye fan," the actor said. "She has a wonderfully annoying and equally charming manner about her, because she's such a fangirl of Hawkeye. The relationship grows from that, but the biggest problem for Clint is Kate Bishop and the onslaught of problems that she brings into his life."

Kate Bishop first appeared in 2005 as a member of the Young Avengers, a group of teenage adventurers who modeled themselves after Earth's Mightiest Heroes. She went on to become a supporting player in the 2012 Hawkeye solo series by Matt Fraction and David Aja, in which she and Clint Barton maintained a mentor/student relationship only occasionally marred by their competitive natures. The series helped make Kate a fan-favorite character, enough that she starred in her own solo series from Kelly Thompson and Leonardo Romero in 2017 and co-led the latest iteration of the West Coast Avengers with Clint.

Just as Clint acts as a mentor to Kate, so too did Renner help guide Steinfeld through the world of the MCU. "That was always my role," Renner said. "Outside of acting in the thing, I was protecting her and giving her the CliffsNotes on how it goes with this kind of filmmaking: Green screen, superhero life, all that stuff. I just wanted to protect her, because there's a lot of physical stuff. She's a wonderful actress, a wonderful human, and I can't wait to see all the cool stuff that she's able to do."

Fans will be able to see both the Hawkeyes in action when the series drops on Disney+ on Nov. 24.
