Jeremy Renner is about to start training for his role as Clint Barton in the upcoming Disney+ series Hawkeye

"Time to start stretching," Renner posted on a recent Instagram story, which included the series logo for Hawkeye. According to MCU Cosmic, production on the Disney+ series is expected begin in July this year.

Created by Stan Lee and Don Heck, Clint Barton first appeared as Hawkeye in 1964's Tales of Suspense #57. In addition to the Avengers, Hawkeye has been part of several other Marvel superhero teams, including the Defenders, the Great Lakes Avengers, the New Avengers and more. Renner is the first actor to play Hawkeye in a live-action film.

Renner first appeared as Clint Barton during an uncredited cameo in 2011's first Thor film. He would go on to reprise the role in 2012's The Avengers, 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron, 2016's Captain America: Civil War and 2019's Avengers: Endgame.

Little is known about the upcoming Hawkeye series, though rumors indicate the show will focus on Hawkeye training his protege Kate Bishop. It was even rumored that Bumblebee's Hailee Steinfeld would portray Bishop in the series, though the actor seemed unsure about the possibility.

Starring Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton, Hawkeye is scheduled to premiere in Fall 2021. Disney+ is now available in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand and Australia.
